Point your domain to CHVEX hosting

Connect your domain to your hosting using nameservers or an A record, and what to expect while DNS updates.

On this page

For visitors to reach your website, your domain must point to your hosting. There are two common ways to do this: change the nameservers, or change the A record. You make the change where your domain is registered (your domain registrar).

Get the values you need#

The nameservers and the server IP address for your hosting are provided by CHVEX. Look in the details of your service in the client area. If they are not shown there, open a ticket and ask for them. We do not publish them on this page, so you always get the values that match your service.

Option 1: Change the nameservers#

With this method, your registrar hands over all DNS management to the nameservers you give it.

  1. Log in to your domain registrar.
  2. Find the nameserver (DNS) settings for your domain.
  3. Replace the existing nameservers with the ones provided by CHVEX.
  4. Save the change.

Choose this if you want everything, including email records, managed through cPanel.

Option 2: Change the A record#

With this method, you keep your current DNS provider and only change where the domain points.

  1. Open the DNS settings of your domain.
  2. Edit the A record for the root domain (often shown as @) so it points to the IP address provided by CHVEX.
  3. Do the same for www, or make www a CNAME pointing to your root domain.
  4. Save the change.

Choose this if your email or other services are managed elsewhere and you do not want to move them.

Add the domain in cPanel#

If the domain is not your main hosting domain, add it in cPanel as an addon domain or alias so the server knows which files to show for it.

Waiting for DNS to update#

DNS changes are not instant. It can take from a few minutes up to a day or two for everyone to see the new setting. During this time, some visitors may still see the old site. This is normal and is called propagation.

If your site still does not load after a day, see Troubleshooting.
